The currency is the shekel (nis) which is called the new israeli
shekel (NIS). The bank notes are of 20, 50, 100 and 200 shekels and
coins of 1,5 and 10 shequels also 5 and 10 agorot.
When you arrive at Ben Gourion International Airport there are banks at your disposal and also
Automatic Teller Machines (ATM'S).

The shabbat (Sabbath) saturday is a day of rest in Israel.
It starts from Friday night and ends Saturday night-from sunset to sunset.
All the bank holidays also start , the night before and end the next day.
The shops are closed on Saturdays and bank holidays and public transport does not operate.
However, taxis, restaurants, cinemas, discotheques are open to the public.

The Ben Gourion airport is located 15 kms from Tel-Aviv on the main highway from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem.

Many newspapers are published in english.
